The Instrument Works was founded in 2023 by Maximus Stephens and Amy Armstrong. Currently there are two locations in the UK. Amy, who specialises in flutes is situated in Newcastle upon Tyne. Max who specialises in saxophones is situated in York.
The Instrument Works are also part of the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairs so you have peace of mind.

Growing up in London, Amy followed her passion for music as a flute player before completing her degree in Music at the University of Surrey. She then embarked on a career in Music Education and Arts Management and has been privileged to work with some wonderful people in some inspiring venues such as London’s Barbican Centre and the Sage Gateshead (now The Glasshouse).
Now based in Newcastle Upon Tyne with her family, Amy enjoys playing flute and piccolo in community bands and orchestras, and also teaching and repairing flutes. Along with Max, Amy is also a proud memebr of the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers.
Maximus Stephens is a saxophonist with a passion for modern dance and pop music. Raised in Newcastle, he moved to York to complete a Music Performance degree at York St. John University. Max now performs regularly around York and Newcastle and founded The Instrument Works repair business alongside Amy Armstrong in 2023.
Under the tuition of Lynne Williams and a member of the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers, Max specialises in saxophones. Max currently plays a P Mauriat Custom Class 67RUL alto saxophone and a Yamaha YTS-25 tenor saxophone.
